So I’m trying not to move, as I sit here in stillness
and then he tells me there’s something else
I need to go and do.
He says, go listen to the snow fall and your dad’s old CDs,
stop conversing with angels
and go dance with human feet.
But I tell him, I’m a feather, you know?
This isn’t real there’s nothing to do,
and he says one day I’ll return there, but for now
there’s something I need to fulfill.
And he tells me go out in the world,
and remember who you are.
Speak truth, tell your story, and with it travel far
and he tells me to go dance.
And remind people to be free.
Because once one person does it for the rest it seems easy
and then he reminds me that there’s a whole life waiting,
that there’s dinner parties to be had
and music to be making,
and I’m still sat there all quiet when he says to me, listen.
You can always come home but,
you came here to be human.
